Maverick Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is the Fountain Inn office of Dr. Mary Alice Hughes's hometown children's practice, alongside its Mauldin location. She grew up in Mauldin, earned her dental degree at MUSC, completed her pediatric dentistry residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Her mom, Susan, a longtime registered nurse, runs the practice's day-to-day administration.
The practice cares for infants, toddlers, adolescents, and children with special health care needs, and suggests a first dental visit by age one. Care covers sealants, fillings, crowns, space maintainers, nitrous oxide, and emergency visits, plus hospital dentistry under general anesthesia for children who need it. Parents are welcome back in the exam room, and families of children with special health care needs can arrange an after-hours tour before a first appointment.
